I by no means consider myself an expert in photography. I still have much to learn and many skills to hone. I am at the point however where I know what I like and what I want out of my subject matter.
I have invested a relatively small amount of cash in equipment in a space of some 4 months. I have two lenses, some filters and a wide angle extension. I am pretty familiar with adobe Lightroom but still have much to learn.
I’ve found myself asking recently why did I suddenly get into photography. I always wanted to while younger but I never knew why I wanted to.
I think I finally began to understand why when I was thinking about my Dad who hardly ever took pictures and I wished I had that preserved in a picture to be vividly reminesqued.
It hit me tonight when I saw a beautiful sunset which trumped everything i had seen in the past. It looked like the clouds were softly painted on the blue sky. I realized in that moment that i didn’t have my camera on hand and thought that’s why I love photography. I can preserve the beauty and emotion of the moment and so you have it. That is why photography is my passion.
As I saw the sunset I noticed that no one seemed to be looking at it all. It was a saddening feeling.
Through photography I have literally begun to the world in a completely different view. I have seen beauty in the smallest and the largest things. And I have the blessing of preserving it.
